From Concrete Laborer to Facility Mentor, Jaime shares his 13-year journey growing alongside Locke.
When Locke first opened its doors in 2013, Jaime Guerrero Gonzalez joined the team as a Concrete Laborer. More than a decade later, he continues to be an important part of Locke’s Houston plant, helping train new employees and helps tackle complex structures.
Jaime decided to join Locke because he felt there was limited room for growth at his previous job. When the opportunity to join a new company came along, he was ready to take it.
In the early days, Locke operated out of a small warehouse near Hobby Airport with just one Hyster 155 forklift and no rebar bending machine. With a small team and limited equipment, the work wasn’t always easy. But the team found ways to get the job done, and Jaime saw something worth sticking around for.
“I like the work environment at Locke. We do many different projects that seem difficult in the moment, but as time goes on and the project is complete, all I can say is, ‘Wow, we really did this.’ And I like that.”
Growing Alongside Locke
Over the past 13 years, Jaime has grown with the company into his current role as Facility Mentor. Today, he helps coach and guide new hires, teaching them Locke’s procedures and how the Houston plant operates. He also works on some of Locke’s more custom and complex structures, which often involve multiple moving pieces and unique challenges.
For Jaime, one of the best parts of working at Locke is the people. He describes his coworkers as hardworking and trustworthy and appreciates the support he receives from supervisors and directors.
That sense of teamwork has remained important to Jaime throughout his time at Locke. Whether he’s working alongside his colleagues on a challenging project or helping a new employee learn the ropes, he values having a team that works together to get the job done.
A Memorable First
When asked about his favorite memory at Locke, Jaime recalls an experience from 2016. That year, Locke invited him to attend the NPCA Precast Show in Ohio, giving him the opportunity to travel by airplane for the very first time.
Leading by Example
As a Facility Mentor, Jaime plays an important role in helping new employees get started and find their place at Locke. When asked what advice he would share with those he trains, he emphasizes the importance of putting in the effort and doing your part. Jaime believes success comes down to the individual and their willingness to contribute to the team.
“At the end of the day, we are all family. We are a team.”
After 13 years with Locke, Jaime’s story reflects not only how much the company has grown since 2013, but also the people and teamwork that continue to move it forward.
